This program engages students and the community in an experiential and collaborative learning experience that embraces values and methods underlying restorative justice and practice.

Program Details:

This program can be done on or off site. It is geared for grades 9-12. Subject matters can be specific to topics:

• Holocaust
• Genocide
• Child Refugees and War
• ICWA and the American Indian
• Civil Rights

Sustainable Outcomes:

Students will learn conflict resolution strategies and a model to repair and heal society. They will learn how restorative practices cultivate peace, trust and hope in individuals and communities harmed by conflict, violence and crime.

This program engages others in the fundamental rights children have. This is a collaborative learning experience based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Children (CRC) and it’s articles.

Program Impact:

This model is easily implemented into several classes, assembly and break out sessions.

Program Details:

This program should be on your site if there is room and is appropriate for grades 9-12. The material intentionally is NOT graphic but may be a challenge for youth who are currently being abused. We recommend school counselors onboard and if you do not have counselors available, we always bring some. This IS NOT, however, a forum where therapy is engaged.

Sustainable Outcomes:

Students will learn about prevention and protection tools and how they can make a big difference in the world by action steps. They will learn how to prevent abuse against themselves and others.

This program addresses the Civil Rights Movement era (and other similar movements in other countries) and a political form of expression through song and spoken word. The program covers many nations of people and tribes who want their voices heard. Many types of folk instruments are used. Students write their own lyrics to an issue that is important to them.

Program Impact:

This program is used with curriculum similar to Martin Luther King day or civil rights history.

Can be on or off site. ICA will bring the instruments.

Sustainable Outcomes:

Students will learn the history of many political songs during the Civil Rights Movement and similar movements throughout the world, what they meant, and how they they were expressed in word and song. The students will learn how to express themselves with subjects that are important to them and learn that their thoughts and opinions matter.

This program is a partnership project with a designated organization and a community who build and maintain a garden. The product of that garden belong to the community.

Program Impact:

Garden sites are student and community supported bringing incredible value to all involved. This program can be repeated year after year.

Program Details:

This program is planned in advance with designated partners. It does qualify for community service hours students need.

Sustainable Outcomes:

Students learn the value of giving back to the community. They learn soils, garden care-taking and composting. They will learn the roles gardens serve to enrich health, heal bodies, and sustain families.

This program addresses topics of bullying, trafficking, texting, social media and other areas of importance. The purpose is to teach the topic in a factual way and then engage the students in interactive discussions to find positive solutions. Students will find ways to prevent abuse and harmful consequences.

This program is very easily implemented in curriculum.

Program Details:

Topics of interest are chosen and the program is designed around the topic. The program is appropriate for grades 9-12.

Sustainable Outcomes:

Students learn to treat each other with dignity and respect. This program is a strong tool that prevents bullying and other forms of violence and abuses against youth. It builds teamwork and ways to express oneself so one does not become a victim.
