The Opportunity

What is the Welcome Home Program?

The Welcome Home Program invites children from the Philippines who are waiting for a permanent, loving family to spend several weeks in the United States living with a host family. Hosting gives a waiting child the gift of family life — while giving your family the chance to open your heart and home.

Welcome Home is a three-week program that gives orphaned children from the Philippines the opportunity to stay with a host family while exploring the possibility of adoption.

What Happens In the 3 Weeks
Throughout the three-week program, host families participate in scheduled activities, group outings, and other program events. These shared experiences help children build meaningful connections, create lasting memories, and give both the children and host families the opportunity to get to know one another in a supportive and welcoming environment.

What is a Host Family
A Host Family, or Host Home, is a family that opens their home to host a child or sibling group for a short period of time. Through the Welcome Home program, families host a child for three weeks, providing a safe, loving, and supportive environment while exploring the possibility of adoption.

What About the Orphans
Typically, the children participating in Welcome Home are anywhere from 8 years old – 14 years old. We have a complete history reported to us by their country of origin, the Philippines.

What Does it Cost
The Welcome Home program is designed to serve as a pathway to adoption. Many of the program expenses are applied toward your adoption costs if you choose to move forward with the adoption process. Please note that these fees are non-refundable.

Examples of program costs include:

  • Home study
  • Airfare for the child
  • Other required program and travel expenses
  • Activity costs

What’s the Process
Families who would like to participate in Welcome Home must follow our steps to becoming RFA certified.

Requirements
Host Homes advocate for their host child by trying to find them an adoptive family. Host homes must meet our adoptive family requirements:

  • Must be married at least 3 years
  • Homestudy approved
  • Criminal/child abuse clearances
  • Physically, pschologically healthy
  • 20 hours of host parent training
  • must attend all planned events and activities for the 3 week duration
  • Host family is required to provide one 50lb bag of humanitarian aid for their host child to take with them to share with other children in their orphanage.
