National Foster Care Awareness Month

In May, ICA acknowledges and celebrates National Foster Care Awareness Month AND Mental Health Awareness Month.

Here are some facts to aid us in bringing awareness of Foster Care:

The goal of Foster Care is reunification!
Foster Care is a temporary arrangement where a child is placed with a foster family while the birth parents are provided the opportunity to address issues and to increase their capacity to provide a safe and healthy home for the child.
The role of the foster parent is to provide a family-like setting that supports safety, stability and well-being of these children while also supporting their birth families.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is also Mental Health Awareness Month.
If you didn’t know, ICA has a Counseling Center. Our Counseling Center serves our Foster Children AND kids and teens in the community!

Join ICA as we acknowledge and come alongside NAMI in their Mental Health campaign.
“Mental health journeys are unique, but the strength found within them is universal. “In Every Story, There’s Strength,” highlights the resilience and diverse experiences that shape mental health journeys within our community.”

Help ICA turn kiddo’s struggles into strengths.
You can do that by:

Providing prayer for our Counseling Team. Lots goes on in the Counseling Center. Pray for peace, patience, kindness, and understanding.
Provide Counseling Scholarships. We have families that have kiddos in counseling that cannot always afford to continue their counseling care so your scholarships assist in that. We also have families that initially inquire and cannot even start counseling because they can’t afford counseling.
Purchase Counseling Supplies. We offer counseling in various different approaches. Some of those approaches require supplies such as paint, sand, toys, and sensory items. Often, we have to replace these items. Assisting us in keeping up that inventory allows ICA to continue in its counseling approaches.

In April, ICA received multiple donations and they have been such a blessing to our Foster Care Kiddos and their families. Thank you so much to the churches and groups that have donated. We do not take our donations lightly and we are encouraged that our community around us acknowledge the work that ICA is doing and is coming alongside us to further our mission and goal!

ICA believes in the sanctity of life that all children are valued and uniquely made.

Host an Info Meeting

Let’s have coffee! Introduce ICA to your pastors, women’s ministry leaders, small groups, etc. Do they know we exist? Do they know the good work we do? Are they aware that we understand they have a heart to reach out but maybe don’t know how? Help us link their willingness to action. We can come alongside and develop the best program given the unique gifting of your church.

Preparation for upcoming audits
Our local churches will capture the vision to allow ICA help them support foster/adoptive families

ICA’s goal is to come alongside churches willing to be educated & supported in their mission to love the vulnerable as their neighbor.
